the law that we recognize when we say, “what goes up must come down.”
Tala, Barely Fair
April 23, 2025 - May 11, 2025
Tala is delighted announce our participation in BARELY FAIR, presenting works by Roland Knowlden and writing by Isra Rene
Barely Fair is a 1:12 scale international art fair held in Chicago’s McKinley Park neighborhood. As the world’s most-mini art fair, each booth measures only 20 x 20 x 12 inch. Featuring 30 galleries, project spaces, and curatorial projects from around the world, Barely Fair focuses on bringing an intimate art experience to the traditional art fair format
Tala will present Knowlden’s newest works the law that we recognize when we say, “what goes up must come down.” - a title referencing a quote from James Baldwin’s The Fire Next Time. This work explores the cyclical forces of recursion as metaphor found within fire, fractal patterns, and indigenous West African game logic. A short experimental, writing piece by Isra Rene will accompany Knowlden’s work, offered as a take home keepsake for visitors.
